The Two Senior Officers Instants Before the Aggressor Was Tasered

A ranking policeman who rushed to the assistance of a colleague that got attacked by a knife attacker has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a blade to the throat of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist following a road collision in that location in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.

"Policeman stabbed," the officer stated over his communication device.

Bodyworn and dashcam footage made public by the force showed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood covering head, rush to Sgt Foster from behind with a knife pointed forward.

He collided with the policeman who stumbled and fell to the street, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the floor despite being continually attacked with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a open target, concluding the struggle to an conclusion.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide something on my neck now, I got knifed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell received multiple open wounds to his throat and more injuries to his arms and body, while Sgt Foster experienced cut injuries.

The department stated Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stop his fellow officer's hemorrhaging before paramedics arrived.

The new recognition follows after the law enforcement team won departmental Valor Recognitions in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the regional union branch in April 2024.

They were also awarded a Area Courage Honor in July 2024.

"The actions of each policeman ultimately saved each other and ensured no civilians endured any harm."

Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in April 2024, as stated by the department.
