England Bring Back Saka While Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden & Jack Grealish Are Omitted

Bukayo Saka in action

Bukayo Saka has netted 12 goals in 44 games for the national team.

England have recalled Bukayo Saka for upcoming matches versus Wales and Latvia, yet there's no spot for Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden or Grealish.

Arsenal forward Saka was absent from last month's qualifier wins over Andorra and Serbia due to a muscle problem.

Saka made a comeback for Arsenal and found the net in their victory over the Greek side midweek.

The England international comes in for Arsenal team-mate Noni Madueke, who is out of action till next month with a knee injury.

England meet Wales in a warm-up match at the national stadium on Thursday before a qualifying match in Latvia on 14 October.

If England win against Latvia, they will require a just two more points from their last two qualifiers against Albania and Serbia in the next month to qualify for next summer's tournament in North America.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah comes in for Newcastle United’s Livramento, who is out for up to eight weeks following suffering a knee injury against the Gunners last weekend.

Elliot Anderson and Djed Spence, who received their first England call-ups previously, retain their places. Loftus-Cheek also remains in the squad, despite the return to fitness of Wharton.

The attacker has only played one game for Tuchel since taking over as national team boss, because of injury concerns.

Bellingham was absent from the previous squad as he recovered from a shoulder operation and has only made a single start for Real Madrid since returning to fitness.

The Manchester City player was left out from Tuchel's last England squad following a loss of form and has been unable to force his way back, even with a strong start to the season with City.

Grealish also misses out in spite of a resurgence on loan at Everton. He has not played for England since October 2024.

'Attention turns to excluded players'

The manager’s latest England squad brings scrutiny to the players the head coach has omitted instead of the players he has selected.

Bellingham’s exclusion may raise some eyebrows but Tuchel understandably feels there is no rush to bring back the Real Madrid star.

City’s Foden and loanee Grealish have both performed well at the start of the campaign.

Those who the manager used in England's qualifying victories against Andorra and Serbia deserve the chance to continue.

It will bring disappointment that Arsenal's Noni Madueke is not included due to injury.

The Forest player has settled well at England senior level.

Tuchel is a fan of Grealish, in particular, and also the City star.

If there is one surprise, it is the absence of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

Bellingham, naturally, will be required further down the line.
